This was once a favorite spot to grab brunch until I asked to add lettuce and tomato to a sandwich and was told NO. The clerk said the kitchen would not make modifications to any item. I asked if they could put it on the side, charge me extra, anything - to which she replied NO. When I called the manger on Monday to discuss the matter he revealed he was the one who instructed her no. He was unsympathetic and made no apologies. There are tons of other great places within walking distance of Taste to have brunch. Zest on 54th and Monon is where I went that day.

Taste has great food. Everything is fresh, relatively healthy, and made to order. However, Taste has one of the worst seating systems I have ever witnessed. The restaurant is small, yet always packed to the gills. Customers are expected to place their own orders and find their own seating. It sounds simple, but it's a disaster in practice. Saving tables is forbidden, but since there is no sign or host to inform you, you might find yourself getting chastised by the manager (or at best, eating standing up). Bottom line: This restaurant needs hosts and waitresses. It's too busy to be so haphazard.
Pros: Excellent food.
Cons: Manager is unprofessional, seating and service needs to be re-evaluated.

the food was ok...the wait was terrible...not a good place to go if you have and hour or less for lunch...the food and the wait took way to long
