Wonderful, authentic Thai experience

My friend and I had a great dinner here on a Friday night. It was crowded but we were seated within a few minutes. There is also a bar if you want to get a drink while waiting. The food was amazing. We started with cold spring rolls and a salad with tofu, onion, tomato, lemongrass, cucumber and cilantro. Both were very fresh and the combination of flavors was great. Both of us decided not to get noodles for once. I had the Panang curry with chicken which was perfectly spiced an creamy. My friend had a spice tofu and green bean dish, with the beans crisp and fresh and the sauce spicy but tasty. The highlight was a perfect cup of Thai coffee and coconut ice cream. Service was friendly. A lovely meal, which I'm still dreaming about.
- Pros: Authentic, fresh, service
- Cons: none
Never Again

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon with my mother-in-law and I could not have been more disappointed. Besides us, there was only one other customer in the restaurant, yet the staff paid no attention to us at all. In fact, when we asked for our left-overs to take home, they brought us out containers to do it ourselves. I can say, that of all the thai restaurants I have been to, they have always put my take home into containers for us. Also, I asked for some direction from our server as to what was good at their restaurant, and what were their specialties. She replied by telling me to "read the menu." To make matters worse, while I was trying to "read the menu" the server came back to take an order, and when we weren't quite ready...she stormed angrily off into the kitchen.
We ended up ordering two of the simplist items on the menu, fried rice and tom yum goong. When the food arrived, the soup was extremely watery, had no flavor, and was missing some ingredients I think. As for the fried rice, I think it may have been left over from the day before.
Some of the kitchen help ended up in an argument with the management which could be heard in the dining area. At that point we asked for the check and didn't look back. I would not recommend this restaurant. Thailand is the land of smiles, and this is the only thai restaurant I have ever been to where they frown when a customer enters.
