User Reviews for Iron Man

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I must admit, I was a little reluctant to see it since I knew nothing of the Iron Man character. Robert Downey Jr., seemed to be an odd choice prior to my seeing the film. I certainly came away from the film with a new respect for Robert's acting ability! I particularly enjoyed the playful role Gwyneth Paltrow portrayed in this film. Typical of most comic book love portrayals, Gwyneth and Robert hinted at a love interest....which of course, never really gets off the ground. I highly recommend this film...probably not a great choice for very young children but certainly one for 10 and up.

Pros: Awesome plot, great acting, Robert Downey Jr. is "eye candy"

Cons: Can't really come up with any!

Robery Downy Jr was a perfect Tony Stark - arrogant, smug and a sense of humor about himself. True to form of how the comic character is - very much looking forward to how it progresses into Iron Man 2! Jeff Bridges was surprisingly good as Stane - Gweneth Paltrow was great too. Good plot, super scenes as he creates, improves and explores the suit. Surprising amount of humor and very much enjoyed the ending (also true to form to the comics from recent years from what my comic nerd buddies tell me...I stopped collecting 20+ years ago but Iron Man was a favorite.) Very good movie, highly recommend it.

Pros: Acting, Plot, Special Effects

Cons: How Quickly the bad guy picked up using his armour.

I thought Robert Downey would be all interesting and complex, but he turned out to be sort of shallow and arrogant. I could have cared less whether he lived or died. He just looked like the usual 'high' RDjr. There was zero character development despite Favreau's promises. The only thing I enjoyed was looking at GP. They had RD dancing with her at one point - He must have been standing on a box. Save your money.

Downey acting was super in this movie ( almost as good as Charlie Chaplan ) I Thought the movie has a strong plot and the makers took their time to put the pieces together from the romance of Patrow and Downey characters to the Iron Man Suits (which was amazingly filmed and connected together.)

Pros: go see it

I go to a lot of movies, and I have to say the reviewer who panned this movie must have a seriously skewed sense of entertainment. While I freely admit that the character development was not as good as Spider Man, it was much better than most comic book movies. The special effects are believable, the action is quite good, and the acting is OK. My only problem with the whole thing is that the villian is too obvious. Well, that and the depth of the arc reactor (where is his heart and lungs?). Overall it was good, solid entertainment. No, it was not CIA propaganda. IF you truly believe the CIA is behind movies, you need to see only Disney films, and be selective at that. IF you are like me, and just want to see a good movie and not have to feel bad about myself because of it, then IRON MAN is a good choice until Indy 4 comes out.

Pros: Special effects, good entertainment

Cons: obvious plot twists

I heard Jon Favreau on the radio the other day talking about Iron Man. I like his stuff, so I was excited. And, I enjoy RD Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. I met Jeff Bridges and spent a half hour talking with him in Seattle. I loved the trailer, too, so I am sad to report that this movie is giant monkey butt. Save your money and don't see this total piece of c movie. I know, the previews looks sort of interesting. I was tricked. It was the longest two hours I have had to sit in a movie theater without caring the least bit about any of the characters. And, it was all pure government propaganda. However, if you believe that a small handful of Arabs are threatening the entire world and that Homeland Security are the ultimate good guys (and our pals), then by all means, go see this CIA-sponsored movie. Take an aspirin first; there is lots of violence and loud noises constantly. A real piece of S. Apparently, you are supposed to cheer when Arabs get shot. I looked at my watch about 30 times.

Pros: Gwyneth Paltrow

Cons: violent, loud, silly government propaganda

Awesome!!! The character development was smooth, never awkward, from beginning to end. By the conclusion of the film, you had a totally different feeling about the main character than you did at the onset . The storyline was seamless and left the viewer never knowing what was going to happen next. I am not a big fan of action movies as a rule but I found myself on the edge of my seat! In my estimation, this film transcends the genre.I am a middle-aged woman who took her two teen-aged daughters to the drive-in last night and IRON MAN was actually the second film we saw. We thoroughly enjoyed this movie and agree that it is a must see for all !!!

Pros: storyline flowed well; excellent acting; realistic effects
