Best Steakhouse in Indy!

by coco928 at Citysearch

We have been on a mission to find the best steak house in Indy and constantly come back to Sullivans! We haven't found better food anywhere. The service is good. We've had better. The atmosphere is ok...some of the tables are small and uncomfortable but when its all said and done....the food is amazing, period.

  • Pros: Steak, Martinis
  • Cons: Ambience in the dining room, (the bar is nice)

Absolutely Fabulous

by APaige63 at Citysearch

This should be voted the best steakhouse in Indy! My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here and I can't say enough about it. The steak was... melt in your mouth perfect. We got filets cajun spiced and it was to die for as well as that bleu cheese wedge salad and the horseradish mashed potatoes... I'm salivating just thinking about it! Our waiter was also very attentive, but not smothering. Even the waiters that did not wait on us were great! So nice! We'll definitely be going back again and again. Well worth the $$$$!

  • Pros: free valet, great ambience, best steak in indy

It's so money, baby!

First of all, the atmosphere is very hip and Swingers-esque. Next, the filets are to die for. None of that crazy melted butter on them like at Ruths Chris. Definitely try the horseradish mashed potatoes. We always get the lemon souffle for dessert. A little pricey but I doubt you can find a cheap steakhouse that is also good and with a nice atmosphere.

  • Pros: Quality, Atmosphere, Service

Best Steak House in the City

by hsolomon at Citysearch

I stopped eating steaks at restaurants until I discovered Sullivan's. This was the best steak I have had in my life. I was cooked to perfection the first time around and melted in my mouth. Sullivan's have customer for life.

Steakhouse Done Right

by jimarbuckle at Citysearch

Sullivan's is the best value in top-end steakhouses in Indianapolis. The service is prompt without being smothering, and the steaks are outstanding (these folks know the difference between med. rare and med.). Some reviewers kvetch about the price, but Sullivan's' are less than those of their competitors, and name another premium steakhouse where a salad is included in the price of the steak. Morton's? Ruth's Chris? Shulas? I don't think so. Those places are good, but are more expensive and everything is ala carte.

For appetizers, try the ahi tuna or the rock lobster claws (when in season). If you like martinis be sure to ask for the blue cheese stuffed olives. Lastly, the wine list is outstanding, if you're after CA wines (and you can deal with the wine steward on the pricier vintages). The list is a little thin if you are looking for European wines.

  • Pros: Great wine list, Free Valet Parking, Great Steaks

Oversize cocktails and a classy club atmosphere make this an Indy steak house favorite.

The Scene
More than any other Indianapolis steak house, Sullivan's perfectly captures the gin-and-cigar speakeasy feel that every place with a martini shaker and a humidor tries to pull off. There's good jazz and plenty of socializing in the bar, but when the hostess calls their name, patrons scoop up oversize cosmopolitans and quickly follow her into the bustling dining room.

The Food
It's all about thick steaks and heart-stopping side dishes. With every dinner comes a crisp wedge salad with crumbled bleu cheese--you'll crave it for weeks. Sullivan's pushes the house specialty, a 20-ounce bone-in Kansas City strip, but any one of the cuts will satisfy red-meat purists, including the 24-ounce porterhouse and the 12-ounce filet. Giant onion rings and wonderfully gloppy horseradish mashed potatoes are the darlings of the side-order list.

Great Steakhouse

by johkra at Citysearch

This is one great place for a steak. Service was excellent; never had to ask for anything twice. Food was prepared as ordered. So much food for the cost. It was well worth the $$$$. Get reservations or you'll be standing in the lobby for hours.

  • Pros: Wonderful Steak, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Pricey

GREAT

by kdhensley at Citysearch

I had my parents come in from out of town for Mother's Day. They usually find something to negative to say when they go out to eat- not here! My mom and dad both loved their meals. Not only was the food great, but the service was as well. When they come in town, we will return. But, my husband and I won't wait for them!!!
