Exceptional Food - Customer Service is the Worst
by vickigrant at Citysearch
I have been dining at this El Azabache for 8 years. If the food wasn't so good, I would boycott this place. It seems to me like that have no concept whatsoever about customer service. Many times the server never checks back to see if everything is good. Many times I sit there with an empty beverage glass or an empty chips basket for 10 minutes or more and I finally have to flag someone down to get it. Many times the servers don't understand what I am saying. If I ask for "diced" tomatoes, they don't know what I'm talking about. Same thing if I ask for "slivered" onions. Yesterday when I went there, I finished an entire bowl of salsa before a server finally came to take my drink order. I am so addicted to their salsa. I have tried to find salsa this good at other places in Indianapolis so that I would never have to go back there again. But I really cannnot find any this good. Two weeks ago when I was there eating a grilled chicken salad, I was halfway through and I took a bite and began chewing and something felt hard. I pulled it out of my mouth and it was one of those metal twistie ties from a bread bag. The owner came out and spoke with me and I still paid full price for that meal. They also "nickel and dime you to death". Don't ask for extra lettuce or they'll charge you $1.00 for it. A third basket of chips will cost you $3.00, and it doesn't matter if your first or second basket of chips wasn't full or if the chips were broken into small pieces. If you can handle horrible service, you should go. And they act like you're the one with the problem if they don't meet your expectations.
- Pros: Great Food
- Cons: Horrible Customer Service
Authentic Cuisine

I loved the authentic cuisine, however, I felt like the service was a bit slow AND be aware...my credit card was charged twice! In their defense, after a bit of chasing the situation was corrected.
- Pros: authentic, value, parking
- Cons: communication, billing, service
Not bad and it's cheap.

Some items are a little watery such as the burritos.
Decent margeritas,Fajitas but the menu is the same as el puerto 5 miles east .
But hey it's cheap.
