Not The best burger I ever had, period.
by steakexpert007
Has a nice burger, but not the best around!
The Workingwomans Pub has a better burger and The Lazyman's bar has a better burger!
Nice tenderloin and great shrimp cocktails-however!!!!
- Pros: Food
- Cons: parking
The best burger I ever had, period.

If you don't think this isn't the best burger in America, please provide the name and location of a better place. I travel throughout the country and always check out the best dives and diners. For burgers, this is the best, period. The large schooners of ice cold draft beer is the perfect complement. As for the service, it is always reasonable and pleasant. When they are busy it can be a little slow, but so what? Enjoy the diner/dive atmosphere and be glad you're getting the best burger in town.
- Cons: None
Great burgers and onion rings!
by circlecitybbw
The service is what's lacking here. Serving staff has been surly and unfriendly in the past. As if they're doing you a favor to wait on you.
Otherwise, good food and a mediocre juke box, conveniently located for after work functions.
- Pros: Good Food
- Cons: Slow, surly servers.
So good, I eat there twice a week!

The burgers and onion rings are the best I've ever had. Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday are the best days to go for lunch, since it's not as crowded. They only take cash, so plan ahead. Absolutely amazing!
- Pros: Burgers and onion rings
- Cons: Fries could be better
best burger in town
by star489
this place has the best cheeseburger in town, the only place that has better cheeseburgers is "the brick" in Jonesville, 12 miles south of Columbus.
Best Doublecheeseburger in the world.

Anyone who voted for a place other than "the Friend" hasn't been there. The place is always packed for lunch even though its in the middle of a run-down neighborhood and there is hardly any parking. The place isn't fancy, but its clean, and everyone, whether in hardhats or suits, are all there for the same thing -- to get stuffed on the best burgers, fries and onion rings around. Don't know much about the rest of the menu because after 40 visits I still crave the doublecheese. The only question is fries or rings and soda or a cold beer.
- Pros: Great food, relaxed atmosphere
- Cons: there aren't any
Your cardiologist may never forgive you for eating the juicy burger here, but your taste buds will thank you.

In Short
Every day at lunchtime, suits, scrubs and workingmen sit side by side in this wide-open room to get their mitts on an unforgettably juicy double cheeseburger. The limited menu has other items--like chili--and there's a full bar, but the burger and onion rings (or fries) are all you really need.
Real Burger

If you haven't been to "The Friend," you don't really know what a hamburger is. If you have been there, and you think that Hardee's or Steak n Shake is better, you are an idiot. They also probably have the best pork tenderloin sandwich in the city, onion rings, etc. And you can get a beer in a glass the size of a fishbowl! Some might take issue with the accomodations, but they don't really belong. You will know quality when you taste it, not by the concrete floor under your feet.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Real food
Are these burgers manna from heaven?
by cobbius
If not, they should be! and the Chili is good, too. I used to work directly behind the place, and frequented it for lunch. EXCELLENT!!!
- Pros: good food, atmosphere
