The best lays the rest to waste.

Ever since my first visit to "AJ's" I have been in love with the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the location. The Best CCQ (Chili-con-queso) in town - BAR NONE! I have eaten there an average of once a month for the past three years. The service is prompt and the atmosphere couldn't be any more patriotic. Easy for anyone in Indy to get to, it's great for a quick lunch or for a group at dinner. I would say I spend more time trying to convince my wife and friends to go there then we actually spend there. Where else downtown can a couple eat for under $25 and both leave stuffed?
- Pros: Food, Food, Price
- Cons: not open sundays, not open late, only one in town

Great choices! Our office loves to order take out from them.
- Pros: selection, price, take out
- Cons: downtown parking
As Good As It Gets
by wheelerb at Citysearch
I eat at Acapulco Joe's every chance I get. This is authentic as it gets for Indianapolis. Try the Mi Tres Amigos. Service is speedy but avoid the peak hours because the line is usually out of the door.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Fast service, Great food
- Cons: Very busy at peak hrs
Is it Really "Mexican"?
by immurph66 at Citysearch
It's fun & fast, but the food is not really good or Mexican, but it's fast & fun!
- Pros: fast, fast, fast
- Cons: the wait, the food, the potential
Very Patriotic

The food was great and inexpensive. There was a sign on the wall that explained the beginning of the restaurant. It was very patriotic!
Excellent Guacamole
by laurag16 at Citysearch
Acapulco's guacamole is the most mouthwatering, and can't be passed up. With the delicious garlic and ripe avacados, this is sure one to please. Enjoy!!!
- Pros: quality food
- Cons: crowded, bad parking
PLease, do not ever go here
by firasg at Citysearch
This was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. It seems that in Indianapolis this place passes for authentic, but in any other city this place would be burned down. Went with a large group of people, and everyone was ill after the meal. We are still talking about how bad the food is two days later. If you want Mexican food in Indianapolis, I suggest you drive to Chicago
P.S. Biscuits and gravy are not considered Mexican fare.
- Pros: It is downtown
- Cons: Food, Service, Restaurant
Unrelenting Misery

You know you're in trouble when your two choices of "salsa" are some sort of ketchup concoction and a cheap version of Italian dressing served from squirt bottles. Given these options, you might be tempted to order the chili con queso. But I warn you - this would be a serious misstep unless you relish the idea of spending the next 12 hours clutching to life on the rim of your toilet. The main courses also leave everything to be desired. While I only was able to take a few bites of my entree, there is little doubt this accomplishment puts me on par with the "Survivor" and "Fear Factor" contestants who successfully digest unidentified, slimy, squirmy inedibles. Please reconsider before you, or someone you care about, chooses to dine at Acapulco Joe's.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Good Margueritas
- Cons: Nauseating, Low quality, Not authentic Mexican
