Love it :)

by reviews2give at Citysearch

I guess Joe's must be a hit-or-miss place, b/c those who like it, LOVE it, but those you don't, HATE it.

I've had nothing but good experiences at Joes. Good food, good prices, and a great atmosphere to hang out with friends. I've been going there for almost 10 years now, and I've never had a bad experience with the food or staff.

  • Pros: Great atmosphere and price
  • Cons: The parking : (

I Don't Get It

by hippiechick1975 at Citysearch

This restaurant is touted as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Indy, which utterly baffles me. We waited outside in line (on our lunch hour) for 15 minutes, the food was awful, and our server was very inattentive. This was actually my second visit. I had a similar experience on my first visit, which I had previously chalked up as a fluke because so many people rave about how wonderful Joe's is.

Don't waste your time. It's all hype. You're better off at Taco Bell.

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Terrible service, awful food

Moderately priced Mexican cuisine is served at the restaurant that offers traditional meals in casual atmosphere.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
Serving combination plates, strip steak, burgers and fried ice cream, guests flock to the eatery with south of the border décor. The atmosphere is described as friendly and fun where locals can enjoy good food at fair prices. Aside from its Mexican cuisine, the restaurant also serves American classics including biscuits and gravy. A full bar is offered along with takeout so guests in a hurry can step in and eat their food on the go.

Makes Taco Bell look authentic and tasty

by roseoffred at Citysearch

I've never left a review before but when I saw that Joes was rated third on Indys best Mexican restaurant list I just knew I had to do something about it. I tried Joes on a whim, I was hungry and just happened to drive past it. The food was terrible, the beef was complete mush and reminded me of cat food, the "salsa" was basically barbeque sauce and to it was priced as though it was an "real" mexican restaurant. I don't know who these people are that keep going back but we are clearly of different tastes when it comes to food. Getting mexican food at joes it much like getting steak at a greasy spoon. Don't fool yourself.

  • Pros: Looks cute from the outiside??
  • Cons: Food, Salsa, service

Makes taco bell seem like gourmet!

by kevinmroberts at Citysearch

Hands down the worst mexican I have ever had. I think that I have had frozen burrioes from a gas station that tasted better than what they were serving up at acapulco joe's. The place was dirty, the wait staff was inattentive, and the general feeling of the place was uncomfortable. As far as prices go the prices were not extremely high, however, considering the fact that I think my dog eats kibble that is better than what I got $9 seems a little high for a burrito. If you like salsa bring your own...what i was told was there salsa I equate to a taco sauce and ketchup mixture...delicious. You can definately find somplace better to have dinner!

  • Pros: quick seating

Awesome Food, Great Atmosphere

by arunbhat at Citysearch

Joe's has been a favorite of my family for 25 years. You can always count on large serving portions, great taste and fast service. Don't let the line at the door scare you. We have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. The Chili con queso is to die for. And the prices are fair. Thank you Acapulco Joes for remaining an Indianapols legend all these years.

Rude Service! - I'll never go back!!!

by tdaniele at Citysearch

The waitress was short and rude!!! That instant, we got up and left!

My family was spending the day in Indy on our way home to WI from KY. I stopped at Joes for biscuits and gravy because it was recommended by another reviewer on this site. The signs were off including the neon open sign in the front window and the hours werent posted clearly if they were even posted at all. We were in the restaurant for 5 minutes.

Good bye, Joes! Your service is appalling! I dont care if youre having a bad day --Dont make me have one! Sorry I wish I couldve tolerated it and tried your food, but I was offended.

  • Cons: Rude Service!, Rude Service!, Rude Service!

Great Food, Great Servers

by norene at Citysearch

Joes is the best! The chili conqueso is the best in town. The taco meat melts in your mouth. Everything is homemade from the chips to the salsa. I only wish you could buy the salsa at the grocery. The servers are great and have been there for years. Don't miss this hidden gem.

  • Pros: food, price
  • Cons: crowded lunch

Americanized Mexican from a Grocery store shelf

by julieestep at Citysearch

Where's the freaking salsa?? The "bottle of Salsa" tastes like ketchup mixed with Kraft barbecue sauce, gross. The Cheese we ordered for the chips, although good, tasted like a can of hot dog chili sauce mixed with cheese. The chimichanga and burritos tasted like what I could make at home with an envelope of taco seasoning. Why is it so expensive? From now on, only "Authentic" mexican for me. People that like this stuff don't know what real mexican food is.

  • Cons: Expensive, Parking

Mexican or not.....

by denrod at Citysearch

Mexican or not, the biscuits and gravy for breakfast are absolutely TO DIE FOR!!! This has to be one of my top five favorite dishes of any kind in the city. I've had lunch there as well. Most of it has been ok, nothing to get in a twist over, but a pretty decent value. If your in town in the morning, DO NOT PASS THIS UP!

  • Pros: Prices, breakfast food
  • Cons: loud, crowded
