I have eaten alot of Mexican food and I have to say that I love this place. The salsa is terrific! So are the chips!

I have been here twice - both times with high expectations. I kept hearing how fabulous the food was - both lunch/dinner and their biscuits and gravy for breakfast. So, I tried both types of meals. The lunch food was below average - just a step above Taco Bell. The breakfast was such a disappointment. The gravy was good, but the biscuits were doughy and undercooked. The coffee that was initially brought to our table was stone cold and we waited at least five minutes to get someone's attention to let the know. Apparently the switch that was supposed to remain on overnight was turned off. To top things off, the place smelled musty and the bathrooms were filthy. Needless to say, I will never go back.
Pros: Reasonably priced, convenienct downtown location
Cons: Sub-par food; mediocre service, and dirty facilities

I made a 25 person reservation for my birthday more than a week in advance for the outside deck. The reason I chose this place was b/c of the outside seating. A woman even called me from the restaurant the morning of to confirm my "outside reservation for 25 people". When I arrived, they had 2 tables set up INSIDE and ended up giving away one of my tables b/c not all of us were there at the same time. I asked the owner if we could sparatically sit outside once tables started opening and she said it wouldn't be a problem, well it was a problem b/c I never got to sit outside until the last 5 minutes. I was infuriated. Aren't reservations suppose to RESERVE your seat? They did absolutely nothing to accommodate their mistake. Their margaritas are straight mixer with a drop of cheap tequila, they played God Bless America every 20 minutes (horrific), no festive music was ever playing and someone kept obnoxiously yelling over their PA. It was a nightmare. I will NEVER EVER EVER go back.
Pros: We had a very nice waitress.
Cons: Customer service is heinous.

Stale chips and sqeezable salsa that tastes like ketchup with a little heat. Only 5 or 6 items on the lunch menu. El Rodeo or Cancun is much better for half the price. Service is fair at best.
Pros: Location
Cons: Price, quality of food, parking

I guess Joe's must be a hit-or-miss place, b/c those who like it, LOVE it, but those you don't, HATE it. I've had nothing but good experiences at Joes. Good food, good prices, and a great atmosphere to hang out with friends. I've been going there for almost 10 years now, and I've never had a bad experience with the food or staff.
Pros: Great atmosphere and price
Cons: The parking : (

This restaurant is touted as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Indy, which utterly baffles me. We waited outside in line (on our lunch hour) for 15 minutes, the food was awful, and our server was very inattentive. This was actually my second visit. I had a similar experience on my first visit, which I had previously chalked up as a fluke because so many people rave about how wonderful Joe's is. Don't waste your time. It's all hype. You're better off at Taco Bell.
Pros: Location
Cons: Terrible service, awful food

I've never left a review before but when I saw that Joes was rated third on Indys best Mexican restaurant list I just knew I had to do something about it. I tried Joes on a whim, I was hungry and just happened to drive past it. The food was terrible, the beef was complete mush and reminded me of cat food, the "salsa" was basically barbeque sauce and to it was priced as though it was an "real" mexican restaurant. I don't know who these people are that keep going back but we are clearly of different tastes when it comes to food. Getting mexican food at joes it much like getting steak at a greasy spoon. Don't fool yourself.
Pros: Looks cute from the outiside??
Cons: Food, Salsa, service

Hands down the worst mexican I have ever had. I think that I have had frozen burrioes from a gas station that tasted better than what they were serving up at acapulco joe's. The place was dirty, the wait staff was inattentive, and the general feeling of the place was uncomfortable. As far as prices go the prices were not extremely high, however, considering the fact that I think my dog eats kibble that is better than what I got $9 seems a little high for a burrito. If you like salsa bring your own...what i was told was there salsa I equate to a taco sauce and ketchup mixture...delicious. You can definately find somplace better to have dinner!
Pros: quick seating
Cons: food, staff, ambience

Joe's has been a favorite of my family for 25 years. You can always count on large serving portions, great taste and fast service. Don't let the line at the door scare you. We have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated. The Chili con queso is to die for. And the prices are fair. Thank you Acapulco Joes for remaining an Indianapols legend all these years.
Pros: Great food and Service
