Food is very good, much tastier than you would expect at a "sports bar". Kind of noisy but that should be expected, service is decent

The food isn't world class -- or even Indy class (though large portions), and pricey, and the drinks probably the most expensive downtown ($4 for domestic bottled beer, $5+ for imports and not a large selection). The Rock Bottom across the street, and Ram down the street, have better food and less expensive drinks. But why do I keep going to Champps? The service is the best! I happened onto Champps last year to watch football, won a $50 gift certificate in a contest and spent it. My server was soooo nice, and seemed to be interested in me. I got $35 worth of food and drinks and tipped her the rest of the $50 certificate. She told me that was one of the best percentage tips she ever received and told me to come back. I did the next week, ran a $30 tab and tipped $20. I kept going back, and after about the 5th time we exchanged phone numbers and we became each other's best friend. So if you go to Champps ask for Meghan to serve you and be sure to tip her well.
Pros: Service, no smoking inside, lots of sports on TV
Cons: Walk far and/or pay to park, $$ food and drinks, quality of food

I don't like the vibe in this location as much as the northside one. Last time I was there it was very busy, and the waiter barely payed any attention to our table (all two of us). My dinner (steak) was cold and my friends wasn't even that great.
Pros: Easy access to mall, Big screen tvs, big portions
Cons: Big portions, Overpriced, Too many tvs

Last year I went to this place with couple friends when we were there for the USGP, and I have to say the double bacon pepperjack cheeseburger was the best I had in United States. Also the atmosphere of the downtown area is just great. This year, four of my friends and I went to Chicago, and we made a long stop in Indianapolis so we could go downtown and eat at Champps again. I again was not disappointed. The burger is just awesome. Big, tender, tasty, just great. Definitely need to try it if you're ever in the area.
Pros: downtown, patio seating, awesome food
