Viva Puerto Rico ! – There are other Caribbean restaurants in town, but this is the only Puerto Rican one that I know of.
Closed Sunday and Monday. And they're only open until 6pm, (7pm on Saturday.) So either go there for lunch, or an early supper.
Ambience is not much, but it was very clean. Four tables-for-4, a few tables-for-2. Metal folding chairs. Self-serve plastic utensils and paper napkins. Self-serve bottled and canned drinks from a cooler. Caribbean background music. Big flat-screen TV up on a wall.
Lunch is served from steam trays by the operator. Today's lunch was white rice, yellow rice with peas and other vegetables, a beef stew, a chicken stew, and a vegetable stew of beans and potatoes. Sides include the fried mature (soft and sweet) plaintains, or fried green plantains. I prefer the fried green plantains, so I had those. They came with a tasty home-made sauce that I know as "fry sauce", probably mayonaise (or Miracle Whip kind of dressing) and ketchup, plus some other spicy condiment.
All three stews were delicious. They kind of reminded me of Yats. If you like Yats, you'll probably like this place.
Very friendly service. The waiter/operator/owner did bring my food out to my table, and clear the plates while I was there.
$6.99 for the lunch special, plus drinks and tax.
