thank you for SUCKING on Valentine's Day. 2.5 hour wait to get to a table and there are no servers. When will the new Manager job be posted as the current person should be fired! Consideration was given to call the fire marshall as there were 10 deep WAITING for tables. Congratulations for the Spectacular screw up!!!
OCEANAIRE? JUST SAY NO! – Poor service - expensive - food was messed up

Had lunch on Dec. 22 with large group. Waiter ignored us. Food was messed up - not right. Had a ketchup bottle explode all over a couple of people in the group which was hilarious but waiter was not so sorry about. Had to ask for the waiter multiple times and bring things to his attention such as refilling drinks, food was wrong and ordered coffee and was brought cup and cream but no coffee. Perhaps he was just having a bad day but for the price, it should have been so much better. Waiter did NOT adjust the bill for the all the problems. My opinion is that I will not be back. If I were to get a gift certificate, it would get sold on Ebay. On a scale of 0 to 5, I rate this place as a zero. However the bathrooms are really nice.
Cons: The list goes on - stay away12/23/09!<------------I'm with this guy!ღ(｡◕‿◕｡)ღ I HATED IT! Sat me at the very first table with my back to the door. Then we realized they were using us to make the place seem hospitable and not for rednecks. I was told; "business casual" I was waaaaay overdressed, yet the meals costs $28 for improperly cooked fish? Unfortunately for us we listened to his co workers *obviously poor paletes* & we've just returned from the Caribbean! Sorry suckers this isn't good fish. Especially for 30 bucks. The wait staff was deaf or inattentive, but dressed like Dr Giggles. Flip flops everywhere. Men in shorts and sandals. We deserved a discount for following the "suggested dress code" while making reservations. Shame on you Oceanaire for pretending to be a high class establishment. 1 Star.

Great seafood, incredible service – One of the bell persons at our hotel put us on to Oceanaire. It was so fantastic that we went back with five additional guests a second night. Those guests who love oysters raved about the selection and the quality. Their 8oz glasses of wine for a little more than the standard 4oz price was a delight. And, oh, the desserts! Over our two visits we shared the dreamsicle, the brownie, the strawberry shortcake and the stciky toffee pudding--all were delicious. Finally, the waiter, Michael of Chicago, makes the whole experience one of the most wonderful dining experiences I've ever had. Our guests the second time actually applauded him at the end of the evening.
Great Seafood – The service was great and food was wonderful. Very elegant atmosphere, and you also dress business casual. nice place for a business dinner, and a nice date.
great place – friendly staff and good food! aaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Oceanaire - Never a Bad Experience – I have just read some negative reviews about Oceanaire and wanted to write my own. I have eaten there on several occasions and NEVER had a bad experience. I typically get the mashed potatoes, asparagus and crab cakes and ALWAYS enjoy it! I have never had a bad waiter either and the ambiance is fabulous, great drinks and everyone is always nice and friendly.
If I get something I do not enjoy I just let them know and they fix it. This is my advice when spending a lot of money (or not a lot of money). TELL THEM. Don't come on here and complain b/c you didn't like it. Just simply let them know and give them the opportunity to fix your (expensive) meal.
I truly enjoy the atmosphere and Oceanaire is my very favorite restuarant in all of Indianapolis. Always great!
hmm i dont know – well this is an awesome place to dine at as far as interior values go.......but anything other than that is just average. i definatly expected more from an upscale restaurant.! my husband and i finally decided to break down and go to this damn joint! i wish i would spent my money elsewhere. wait staff was so so. they were quick to get you going, but went down hill after order was put in. definatly didnt leave a good tip that night!!! then our food was horrible, i had crab stuffed sole. which was freakin horrible. i wanted to spew, let me tell you, it literally tasted like hot cat breath!!! nasty, my stomach turns just thinking of it. :P
my husband had a better experience thankfully. he ordered filet mignon. and it was right on!! i must say who ever cooked that last saturday night, they are very impressive on their cooking capabilities!!!!!!!! they should probably take over the other section also. haha anyways...we finished up with some nasty crappy desert also known as "the apple crisp". it is mainly a runny oatmealy porrage atop bland caramel apples. literally you could find better for a buck fifty at the fair! oh well.....so that was our story...hope everyone else has a better experience. GOOD LUCK
Seriously overpriced for the level of service.
Elaborate decor, and food would be pretty good if it were served properly.
Waiting for my guest at the bar I had trouble getting a drink. Bar tender was busy chatting with the idle waiters, ignoring the customers.
Waiter was good at first but he disappeared after the appetizers. Someone else brought the entrees but not the glasses of wine we ordered to go with them. I had to leave my seat to find a manager to get the wine. Even then it seemed to take a long time. He brought my wine before my guest's, so it would have been rude for me to drink it. By the time both of our glasses of wine were served we were practically finished with the entrees. Evidently this restaurant doesn't see the value in matching wine with food.
The waiter reappeared later for desert, but too late to provide the service that would have justified the exorbitant price. Total with tip approached $300 for two people. I would pay that for excellent service but not this.
As usual, good, service was slightly off – Very good seafood. You will have to pay for it though. I had a birtday and they gave us a nice private booth and even provided a free dessert. Nothing spectacular aside from the lighting of the brandy poured over the whipcream. Service was great except that our appetizer oysters came out after the entree, so we were trying to eat 18 oysters and not get our entreee cold. That was the only fault. So the place is expensive, but its nice to have this in INdy.
