Caution..... I started going to Lush back in 2006 when there was a totally different panel of stylists. I was excited about having an appointment with Danita, and would have loved her to cut my hair, but as soon as I showed up for my appointment and sat down, she asked me what I wanted and when I told her, she pawned me off onto another stylist because she said she was "better" at the haircut that I requested. I felt uncomfortable in the salon from the beginning, the atmosphere was not friendly. Fast forward a couple of visits, I thought I was paying way too much for haircolor when it wouldn't last more than a couple of weeks before beginning to fade (and after purchasing their overpriced hair products to supposedly help extend the hair color). Then one of my favorite stylists decided to leave, followed by many other stylists at this establishment. Then I heard the horror stories of how the owner treated the stylists that needed to leave, so I decided to leave as well. I'm sure they do a great job for the people who get extensions and the other higher-priced services, but for hair color and cuts there are MUCH better establishments in Indianapolis and surroundings areas that won't make you feel uncomfortable or treat their stylists unethically. Wondering why the name changed from LUSH to WHITE...reputation issues perhaps?

Danita was not informed at the time of booking an appointment that the client had "Green Highlights" and wanted those taken out and "pink/maroon Highlights" colors put in. Danita doesn't do that type of

color she called a stylist who specializes in that type of color service to come in so that we could accommodate her.

The client told us that she had just moved here from out of state and had never been to our salon. Her hair was very dry and we recommended Kerastase products to purchase which she voluntarily did.

We do everything we can to make sure a service and clients will be happy which includes calling in people who "specialize" in avante garde colors if necessary.

The name change was due to a trademark issue with LUSH Fresh Handmade Natural Cosmetics.

It's not the extensions, IT'S THE EXTENSIONIST!. I have been to Paris, Italy, London, and a few other European countries; I also have been wearing extensions from around the world for 4 years. Until this year, while in the Colts owner Jim Esays suite at the new stadium; I could always tell when another woman was wearing extensions!

I saw this blond model being photographed for a national magazine and I thought to myself "damn her for that gorgeous hair, and here I am paying $1,500 for mine."

Later that evening I saw her again, and this time I had to ask "What do you do to your hair?" She replied "Honey, I have Hair extensions." I gasped and out of shock and disbelief!!!

I could NOT tell even while touching her hair! Like a crazy woman, I flipped my hair back and showed her my "Finger rows" as we laughed through it. She was Miss Indiana USA and gave me a card for her stylist Danita White.



The next day, at the office I goggled "Miss Indiana USA" and much to my surprise on her website was a link to White The Art of Hair, and on top of that she was a client!



So I google searched Danita and matter of fact you can google almost anything to do with salon, beauty, hair extensions, etc. And Danita is there!!!!

So I set up my consultation and went, 8 hours later I was a flawless, beautiful, long, thick haired, very content woman! The magic I had encountered that day, transformed not only my hair, but in many ways my life. Nobody I meet knows I have hair extensions, except me....

There is one thing I want to say to ANYONE thinking of or is already doing extensions; Danita is like a Leonardo Da Vinci of color and extensions! Perfection is priceless!

p.s. she wont tell you but she does all the top movers and shakers hair in this town so keep your eyes peeled for a celebrity sightings while at the salon.

Awesome service!. I checked out White Salon after a couple of friends recommended it, and am very glad I did. Danita is just amazing with colors, and although I just went in for a single process, she actually threw in a few highlights on the top of the head where my highlights had grown out cause it had been 3 months since I got them done. And all this at no extra cost! The staff is not only very knowledgeable, but they take their time with you, and really make you feel special in the process :) Would totally recommend them if anyone's looking to get highlights or any sort of color correction done! I am going back again in 4 weeks :)

3 hair stylists including herself, no wonder salon is empty. Danita is mean, and obviously by reading her reviews, the real clients have it right, this salon should be avoided at all cost. She charged us $200 for a postponement of our appt even though I had a car accident the night before and told her that on the message I left 7:00 that morning. She may get our $200 but we will NEVER use WHITE again and will pass the word so no one EVER makes the same mistake!!! She was combative, confrontational, unprofessional, didn't give a darn that we had been in an accident, didn't care that we had planned to reschedule. All she wanted was her $200 cancellation fee!! How low can you go? Danita and her salon obviously can crawl at the bottom of the barrel and be very comfortable! Enjoy your $200 Danita you are a bad business person, shame on you

Nicely asked her to provide a police report, pictures, anything confirming her auto accident and we would have been happy to waive her appointment fee and she couldn?t. Needless to say this isn?t the first time this client has called at the last minute with a complicated story as to why she shouldn't be treated like everyone else. Simply missed her appointment and didn?t respect the 24 hour cancellation policy she agreed to; feels she is more important that the stylist working to pay her bills for the day. Sadly, all salons have to deal with these types every so often.

Great Highlights Great Haircut!. I have seen Lauren Melvin for the last 4 years both here in Indy and at Michael Canele Salon in Beverly Hills and totally get why she wins awards for her work - the compliments I receive on my color and my cut are always so nice to hear - she knows what she is doing, loves what she does, cares about me and how I feel about the outcome and always delivers. I would be afraid to leave her and try someone new - I rely on her so much for consistently meeting my expectations. I wouldn't dream of leaving her for a different stylist. Plus she's just a warm, caring, vivacious, funny person who makes my experience positive every time. I saw the review from the person who did not have a good experience and it's too bad - this way of expressing dissatisfaction is unfortunate in that it in no way reflects how much Lauren really does care. She rocks. Love her. Wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else.

White The Art of Hair Yes, yes, yes, YESSSS!. As a recent transplant to Indy I was in need of somewhere to get my hair permanently straightened - it was time to touch up the Japanese hair straightening done to my unruly mess and I could not find hardly anywhere to do it. The few salons I talked to were rude or snooty but the staff at White the art of hair were very friendly on the phone. I spent about four hours with Lauren today and left with completely perfect straight hair. I can honestly say it was the best job ANYONE has ever done using the Japanese straightening technique on my hair. Lauren was lovely, funny, and friendly and the staff was extremely nice. Psst-its also the place where all the colts players wives and cheerleaders have their hair done! In six months when it's time for more touchups you can bet I will go nowhere else but here. Highly recommend!

“First time at this salon- A++ experience”. Over the years, I've had a lot of good cuts-and a lot of bad ones. This time, I really did my homework before stepping into White The Art of Hair salon. My research really paid off! Danita was very attentive to my needs and gave me useful feedback and suggestions. I walked in with dead ends and "horse hair syndrome" and left with silky-soft, touchable tresses. The cut was precise and flattering- She is an expert with her scissors! I made an appointment to go back for highlights and maybe even extensions. Can't wait! :)

No regard for a loyal customer in a pinch.. Don't get me wrong - the quality of the work Lush and Danita produces is good. However - I've was completely burned by her 'cancellation' policy which is so strictly enforced. Overall, I refuse to do business with someone who isn't willing to compromise with a loyal customer.

After being a loyal customer for over 2.5 years, I was laid off from my job and my Outlook calender I kept my appoints in went with it! I UNINTENTIONALLY missed an appointment and received a call from Danita 30 minutes after my appoint was to have started. I apologized profusely, and tried reasoning with her. I noted that I could come in the next day to make up the appointment, but simply couldn't afford a sunk $200. I could understand the policy if they employed "reminder calls"(which they did at one point but gave up on without a notice to clients...), but there was no reasoning with her - the $200 was charged and I've never been back.

She claimed she needed to pay her stylist her appropriate commissions for lost time...too bad they double book while someone processes.

Additionally, in the 2.5 years as a customer, I saw 4-5 different stylists - very transient work force.

NEVER again.

Danielle4q, We have never made "reminder calls" and If you agreed to the cancellation policy of 24 hours notice for a missed appointment why should the policy apply to everyone but you? I guess we should have given you a reminder call that the reminder calls weren't coming!

Best Ever...I wish I were a local. I was in Indianapolis from Scottsdale for a wedding and decided to take the opportunity to get my hair cut and colored. I had just arrived, had a cold and was generally not looking forward to it because I usually despise being stuck in a stylist's chair.

I can't even begin to describe what a fantastic experience it was at White The Art of Hair. You can tell that the stylists and staff are consummate professionals with unrivaled talent and training. I have never seen that level of skill exhibited in a salon in Arizona. Danita truly has a gift and an incredible focus.

I explained that I was getting married next year and felt that I should have the cliché grown out hair for it. In the most polite and diplomatic way, she asked if I wanted her opinion. I'm so incredibly glad she did. I entrusted her to cut in the way she saw would be most flattering. The transformation was incredible.

I've never left a salon feeling so good about myself. My fiancé picked me up and was totally in awe of the results.

The atmosphere made me feel comfortable enough to give the stylist free reign and the talent of the stylists made that so worthwhile.

It's been three months and I haven't been to another stylist. I'd rather fly back to Indiana than submit to the whims of anyone else.

Great atmosphere, excellent services, Danita White is the be. White The Art of Hair is a great salon and I have been going there since it opened. The atmosphere is friendly and casual yet always professional and elegant.

I have been a client of Danita White's for almost 15 years for both color and cut and I always get compliments on my hair. I trust her implicitly and have always loved the result. Her cut and color techniques are first rate. One of the great things about Danita is that she always keeps in mind my personal preferences, and then offers her professional suggestions so that I end up with the best cut/color possible. I like to change my cut or color every 6 to 12 months and the days when I go in and say "I'm bored, let's do something different" are always fun. The wheels in her head immediately start turning and she gives me a cut or color that is different enough to satisfy my need for change, but doesn't drastically depart from my general overall style. I have been blond, brown and dark auburn and they all looked great!
