maybe this was good when it was called udupi ... We went for Saturday buffet around 9pm. We actually wanted to go to udupi so spent 10 mins trying to find it. Later found out, its now called "passage to india". The food was cold and some of the dishes were almost empty. We got dosa and nann on the table. It was the worst dosa I have ever had. The frozen dosa you get from indian store is better than this. There was paani poori in the buffet but the water for pani poori was really bad. there was chat papdi in the buffet but it was almost gone. I tried, vegetable korma, bombay alloo, rasam, pakora. Everything was bad. Maybe I had very high expectation for this place because it has good reviews but we were very disappointed. We won't go back again.…
Now Called Passage To India. I went to go to Udupi and found it was now called Passage to India but it hasn't changed at all really. The food was truly amazing and did not upset my stomach like Indian food can at times. This is THE PLACE to go for vegetarian Indian food.…
very forgettable. udupi is a far cry from authentic south indian cuisine. what really puts you off is the non existent service. if you are lucky to get a waiter, they are inattentive, slow and rude. its almost as if they dont want to work. the quality of the food is not great. i disagree that people in India are inefficient. there are several restaurants in India where people are very attentive, and the food is good. Places like udupi in Indianapolis, in fact give a very distorted view of what Indian restaurants are like. Americans would probably end up believing that Indian restaurants or Indians in India are inhospitable and unfriendly after going to udupi. There is absolutely no reason why sub standard service, quality and taste should be marketed as Indian whether as home or abroad.…
not that great!!!!!. this plcace is alright. The waiters are not enthusistic about working...they probably forget this is the US and not India where people are known for inefficiency and lack of enthusisam to work !!! Also the path to the rest. is awful......we have to pass very unfriendly Gujju's who stand behind the various counters esp. the video and music section. Awful customer service at the grocery store as well as the music and movie section!! Please guys remember this is the US not Ahmedabad or Baroda!!!!!!!!!! No manners at all!…
Champion food.
I dare anyone to tell me about a better South Indian food establishment in Indianapolis.
Their service is NOT slow as mentioned in another review. As a matter of fact some of the staff have taken time to get to know my wife, son, and myself. Their service is fast, courteous, and sometimes they bring you surprises.
When you compare the cost to taste/variety..........there is no comparison in Indianapolis, Indian food or not.
This place is the bomb.…
