Editorial Review for Main Event – by Katherine Burke

In Short
The walls at Main Event are covered with sports knickknacks, autographed sneakers, Colts' jerseys and I.U. logos (this is not Purdue country). Sixteen televisions of various sizes broadcast every sports channel available. This family-owned joint is kid-friendly, with the usual fare of burgers, fries and steaks to nosh on. On game day, the scene changes to a lively, testosterone-filled cheering mob. Plenty of pool tables, air hockey, darts and video games will keep you busy.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Stake out your table early for Colts games, Pacers playoffs and the all-important Indy 500.

Know Before You Go

If you're particular about how your drinks are made, you'll need to specify; this is no cocktail bar.

After frequenting this establishment for over 15 years, I see that it has gone downhill in almost every respect, especially at the hands of new management. It is not a place to watch Monday Night Football as on Mondays they now feature poker. On Mondays, the place is so full of poker players that you can barley see the game and you cannot hear it over the clinking of poker chips. New management is best described as surly and unwilling to support their long-time clientele. It's a shame as this once was a fun place. The regulars are migrating elsewhere and there is no compelling reason to visit this place any longer.

Pros: dirty restrooms, mediocre food, crappy music

Cons: Surly management, Too many card players, Not a real sports bar
