Good Food!. Seeing all of these bad reviews, I shouldn't have expected much, but we had a really good experience and will definitely be back. My husband had the Philly Sandwich which he said was one of the better ones he has had - and was so big he couldn't finish it. I had the 4-6pm dinner special where I got a Fresco Salad (hubby ate it and thought it was good), warm bread, BBQ Chicken which was very moist and tasty, delicious mashed potatoes, green beans, and a bread pudding dessert all for less than $10. We were there early in the evening - hardly anyone else was there - sat out on the patio - had good, quick, friendly service. Not sure why so many people have had a bad experience, maybe we just hit a good night but we will definitely be trying it again.

House Specialty... HA!. My girlfriend and I live in the area and finally decided to try Castleton Grill. As we made our way to the table we realized this place was for the birds. We decided to give it a chance and stick it out. Huge mistake. The music is teenage girl inspirational and then jumps to teenage girl depression. Our waitress comes to the table with a tatoo on her neck and smelling like cigarettes, wow. Then their menu is more about telling you about why you should come back than it is about the food. And my coke cost me $2.55... a little much I think. I decided to go with their "House Specialty" which is Prime Rib with mashed potatoes and horseradish sauce. I added a fresco salad for $1. I asked the bar-hag waitress if she reccommended the 8 or 11 oz serving and she said "well how hungry are ya?" to which I replied... "fairly. I just dont want half of the 11 oz to be fat." I also said that I wasnt a huge fan of horseradish and asked what else I could have instead... well that was a bust becuase I ended up being served ketchup for my prime rib... Well I go with the 11 and half of it does turn out to be fat, and the medium-rare is more like RAW. We also had the Onion Ring appetizer. They were obviously hand battered but were a little raw and flavorless. My girlfriend ordered the Half Herb Roasted Chicken with potatoe cake. Her chicken was over-cooked and stringy with an obscene amount of rosemary. very overpriced for what she recieved. The potatoe cake was decent after you take off the pico de gallo style topping. Here is breakdown of our receipt...

soft drink 2.55

water 000

Chix half 11.95

caesar salad 1.00

Prime 11oz 15.95

fresco slad 1.00

onion ring app 4.50

subtotal 36.95

total 40.28 +tip

I WILL NOT RETURN AND WOULD ADVISE OTHERS NOT TO EVEN ATTEMPT IT.

Ridiculous...Do Not eat here!!. I've never been to a place like this where customers have to pay extra for GRAVY without being informed when you order it. I found I was charged $1 for gravy with my mashed potatos when the bill came.

It is OK that you charge extra money for people asking extra stuff.

The thing is I did NOT know I would be charged for it especially when mashed potatos is usually served with gravy. There was nothing stated on the menu that gravy is extra, nor telling me when I ordered it.

The manager was rude. She said, "This is our policy. Gravy is extra $1." I said, "If you charge something extra, shouldn't you list it on the menu, or let customers know when they order it?"

She said,"Not everything is listed on the menu, and we don't train our servers to inform customers there would be extra charge when they order something extra. This way they will think it's cheaper."

I was unhappy and told her, "We won't come here again", then she told us, "Up to you!"

You see, that's how they do business. No honesty at all.

Don't eat at Castleton Grill, or you might be charged for a slice of lemon for your water one day without knowing it.

Do not eat here. I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone, EVER! The service was the worst I've ever had in life. It took at least 20 minutes to even get our waters, then we ordered a chicken salad, shrimp, and a burger. There were 3 tables with people in the entire restaurant including us and it took an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. Then when we got the food and we asked the waitress why it took so long, because she never came over and explained anything to us at all. She was actually cleaning the bar, and glassware as we sat there, with no clue about what was going on with our order. So when we asked her what was going on she got an attitude right off the bat and told me that it doesn't take 5 minutes to do a burger. (Which I understand since I do catering for a living!) She got really loud, and was just rude right off the bat when we questioned her about the service time. Then the manager came over and was equally rude, when we told her about our service and she told us that they were really busy all day and we were looking around at all the tables confused so we were expecting some kind of apology or something from the management all she said was "So did you not want your food?" After this comment we just walked out, disgusted and hungry!! It was by a really busy mall and there was no one there but everywhere else was busy and after we left we realized why.

Great Tasting Food!. My friend and I randomly found this place on our way back from Chicago, and we were pleasently surprised. They had a wood fired oven, and we both got grilled chicken dishes. The flavor was amazing. For dessert we got the brownie sundae, which was so warm, moist, and delicious. If this place was in my hometown I would definately eat there frequently.
