Editorial Review for Hollyhock Hill – by Julia Spalding
In Short
Set in a big, old house, this neighborhood eatery has been a spot to share tables and home-cooked meals since 1928. Candles and fresh flowers sit atop white-linened tables in several rooms. The fixed-price spread begins with a relish tray of carrots, celery, beets and cottage cheese and ends with a dish of vanilla ice cream and a caddy of sundae toppings. In between, pass around fried chicken, mashed potatoes and old-fashioned white gravy.

Consistently ranked among the top restaurants in Indianapolis, Hollyhock Hill is famed for its superior cuisine and high standards of service. Nestled in a quite north side Indianapolis neighborhood, this 100+ year old "county home" creates an atmosphere and ambiance which is unmatched. Considering these facts, coupled along with the excellent value - Hollyhock Hill is clearly the best overall restaurant in Indianapolis.

I have been going to Hollyhock for years and it has always been a positive experience. The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, it's just beautiful. There are flowers painted on the walls, and lovely gardens outside. The staff here are friendly and highly trained. The food is family sized portions, so come with a group. They are famous for their pan fried chicken which is delicious. Their sides are all great, and they just keep on coming. Then when you are done eating you can relax outside in the gardens. Enjoy!
Pros: beautiful, scenic, great food
Cons: not really for kids, pricey
