Televisions broadcast silently above multiple rows of cardio machines; mirrored walls act as the primary decorative components. But thanks to high-energy television ads and low-impact membership premiums, this national fitness chain has steadily attracted a clientele bent on saving money while losing weight or gaining muscle.
The Workout Using fairly standard strength-training equipment and/or racks well-stocked with free weights, the best of the trainers here, who are classified at four different levels, can be as skillful as those found at costlier gyms. It's Got My Vote!.
When my business travels take me to Indianapolis, I workout at this gym. It's small and sits tightly crowded between office buildings and crowded parking garage, but since I'm only interested in a good gym for a thorough workout without all the bells and whistles, I'm not disappointed. I get in and get out within 1 - 1.5 hours. While the gym does get crowded, you can always find a free weight, machine, cardio equipment, rack or flat bench on which to workout. I visit this gym 2 - 3 times per year.
