not anymore....
Mamas restaurant was the best korean restaurant in
town before. Not anymore. Their service getting worse
everytime I go there. Food is not only reason we go the
restaurant, good srevice is one of the most important
things to make us go back there. Used be like that but
not any more. I hope they know what they missing.
NOT BULGOGI!!. Had lunch at Mama's, the worst bulgogi I have ever had; it was supposed to be marinated and bar b qued slices of meat; i believed they steamed the meat; horrible. this is supposed to be an authentic korean restaurant. I told the waitress her answer it is the chef, wtf? get someone to do it right.
Smells like cigarette smoke. I enjoy Koran food and this used to be a good place for it, but the cigarette smoke smell that came from the male waiter at this place made me loose my appetite. He was a very rude and seemed to have no idea what he was doing. I'm sure the food is still good, but I'll never know. The cigarette smoke seemed to be coming from in from the other room. It wasn't the charcoal I smelled. It was the cigarette smoke. Terrible. I won't be going back. It's a shame.
Terrible service. Went there with family. We were seated and no one came by to even give us menus. When waitress came, she informed us that our 5 year old and 3 year old cannot share a soda. When my wife asked for an extra cup, waitress told us there would be a dollar charge! This was the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. We were basically ignored from start to finish. Our uncooked BBQ were brought out and we sat there waiting for the small dishes and fire but it never came.Only when I flagged the waitress down to tell her that if she can't speed up the process we would have to leave did she finally bring us the fire so we can start grilling. While she tended other tables, we were completely ignored. She didn't come by for the rest of the night. Food was ok but the service pretty much was nonexistent. We will not be back!
Best Korean food!.
I have been eating at Ma Ma's house for over 15 years. This place has delicious authentic Korean food! The lunch specials are the best deal. Some of my favorites are the Bulgogi and the Bi Bim Bap (but watch out for the hot sauce - it's very hot!)
The lunch specials are wonderful because they come with a bunch of sides, like kimchi, and these GREAT pickled radishes (and normally I don't like radishes).
The Yuki Mandu (sp?) are like small wontons, and they are so good!
The service is good, and the portions are big enough to fill you up.
We come here for Mother's Day, birthdays, anniversaries...and the quality of the food is always the best. We always say hello to MaMa - she always has a smile on her face! And I see lots of Korean families eating there too, so you know it has to be good!
Regarding Speusippus's comment - most restaurants don't have lunch specials on the weekends, especially on Sunday!
Warning: No lunch specials on Sunday!.
First of all, the sign on the storefront says Korean _and_ Japanese food is served there. This is basically false. The only hint of anything Japanese in the entire menu was the Tempura appetizer--which is also standard Korean fare anyway.
Now on to my main complaint. I went in prepared to spend ten to fifteen bucks on two lunch entrees. But as I began to order, the waitress interrupted to explain that you can not order lunch entrees on Sunday. They only do dinner--even though they open at 10AM!
The cheapest dinner entree costs sixteen dollars. The waitress insisted that it would only be enough to feed one person--so splitting something wasn't an option.
So let that be a warning to you. On Sundays, you must be prepared to spend at least sixteen dollars per person, even in the morning and at lunch time.
I can't comment on the food, unfortunately. I hear it's good.
Awesome lunch spot!!. I work on the Eastside, so finding a good place for lunch isn't easy if you don't want fast-food. I went to Mama's House on a recommendation from a friend, and was really delighted. Why does it always seem that the tiny little hole-in-the-wall places are the best? Service was lightning quick and the lunch specials are great! For $5.99, you will definitely get full. And the presentation is superb. Lunch comes with four bowls of pickled vegetables to snack on along with your meal. I highly recommend the Bolgogi beef. A nice stack of thin-sliced, marinated beef with sauteed vegetables and some of the best fried rice I've had in Indy. I haven't yet been for dinner yet, but I can't wait to try the Korean grill.
Great korean dishes, at home feel. Good korean dishes. The pork saute is a nice treat to those seeking spicy dishes. Lunch specials are flavorful and are mostly under $10. In all, it's a great place to try Korean for the first of 500th time.
Great restaurant. Great place to eat. I had never eaten at a Korean restaurant before so I was very pleased with Mama's House. Healthy food and lots of it. Super place to take the kids. I highly recommend this restuarant to anyone.
