Editorial Review for Union Jack Pub – by Lori Lovely
The Scene
In its glory days of the '80s and '90s, the raucous "Wind Tunnel," as local racers dubbed it, served famous drivers, fans and celebrities four-deep at the bar as they bent their elbows with an imported beer and regaled the gang with uproarious tales of speed and daring. These days, the crowd in the dark, mahogany-paneled pub, whose walls are adorned with vintage racing photos and memorabilia, isn't so rowdy, and includes families with children. Still, on any given Sunday, the TVs are tuned in to a race.
The Food
Typical pub fare of thick burgers and beer-battered onion rings has been enhanced with the addition of veggie wrap sandwiches, stromboli, pasta and steaks. This racer's pub answers to an American clientele with a large selection of Chicago-style pizza--not to mention generous portions--and pays homage to its British inspiration with its trademark fish and chips. Weekends include prime rib.

Insider Tips
Save TimeIf you're in a hurry to eat on a crowded night, avoid the deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza, which can take up to two hours to get to your table.
Look GoodTruly adventurous spirits work their way through the more than 70 beers--most of them imports--no matter how many visits it takes.
When to GoIf you're hoping to spot a famous driver, best chances are May (Indy 500), June (Formula One) and August (NASCAR).

I love Union Jacks and especially love the STUFFED pizza. It's a little pricey and takes a long time to cook but it is delicious! When it arrives it looks pretty small but it is VERY filling! I'm getting ready to go pick one up now!! The pub sticks and onion soup are also highly recommended. For several years they permitted children but due to the new smoking laws kids aren't allowed anymore so I don't get to go as often. I can understand their decision though.
Pros: The best pizza with lots of other great options if you aren't in the mood for pizza
Cons: Kids not allowed since smoking laws changed.
