Caution!!!. If you carry a pistol you may feel safe here. If you are a drunken very permiscuous bar trash this is the place for you. A nice evening out for dancing and drinks with your lady, this place is the pits. Chances are you wont be the only one touching her , but dont say anything to defend her or you could end up in the hospital. Trashy Clientele. If you could give 0 stars i would . Low Class.
Forget this place!!!!. I have been all over the world, to dozens of clubs, and this place is the absolute WORST!!! The clientele at The Vogue make New York City subway riders look like winners of a congeniality contest!! My friends and I went to see Lucinda Williams there last night and we were expecting something along the lines of the House of Blues (New Orleans) or Yoshi's (San Francisco). Boy, were we mistaken! It wouldn't have taken much to get some organization going so that people might actually be able to SEE as well as hear the artist. But instead, you had to stand there the entire night, getting run over throughout the concert by a neverending parade of incredibly obnoxious, rude, drunken cretins. (And let's face it, Lucinda Williams doesn't exactly conjure up images of a mosh pit, but we sure felt like we were in one!!) The only people I would recommend this place to would be self-loathing masochists, and even that's doubtful.
Full of meatheads in the middle of meathead village.. This place is full aholes both staff and clinets. The crowd is annoying to say the least and the bar trys to hard. It is like going to high school but with alcohol.
Crowded, but great place. The vogue always seems to be the hot spot in Broadripple, so always very busy, but is a good thing because they take good care of their customers. The bartenders are always slammed with people but take good care of you. Drinks are a great price. Good place to check out!
a waist of time unless you can get to one of the good bartenders. The Vogue is old news. The bartenders are the only reason to go. And there are only a few goods ones left. It is crowded and stuck in the past. The website isn't even complimentary to even their few good points. Get with the times. Best location to get grabbed on maybe.
Crowded and Smoky.
Went to the Vogue for New Years Party 12/31/2006. The place was packed. The dance floor was standing room only. I wouldn't want my girl on that floor with cats copping a feel indiscriminately. There were a lot of guys standing around on the main floor. Shady looking dudes.
We were in the balcony where there was a lot more room to move, but not really to dance. It's more fun dancing with the people, because of the energy that's around you, but not fun at all when it's overly crowded, and people dancing with drinks and spilling them on you.
It was a diverse crowd in age, ethnicity, and also class. Saw thug types, artsy types, and uppity types. Ravers and Hip Hoppers too.
I'm from Ohio and I totally forgot that Indianapolis still has public smoking. My girl has locs and it's gonna take a couple of days the get the smoky smell out of her hair.
The music was okay. They were true to the types of music advertised on their Web site. I'm thinking that had I known more about some of the other spots (mainly hip hop, R&B spots) I woulda went there, but my concern was being in some spot where there could be trouble, seeing as I'm from out of town.
Based on NYE 2006, I give the Vogue a C. The people were having fun and it was high energy, but it was waay too crowded and smoky. I am sure they were beyond what the Fire Marshall would have found acceptable..
A Broad Ripple music venue for big-name and local bands..
Despite this venue's intimate setting (600 capacity), the Vogue has attracted big names: Todd Rundgren, Tori Amos, George Clinton, Buckwheat Zydeco, Wilco, Guided By Voices and more. But despite its incredible list of alumni, the Vogue, which was a movie theater in a former life, still offers great local music. Even when big-name bands aren't in town, the venue open most nights, usually featuring DJs who play dance music.
BEST PLACE TO GO!!!. The Vogue is a great place to be at on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays! They have all kinds of music and know how to have a good time. Wednesday nights are the best because all they play are 70s, 80s, and 90s. It is great to be able to go out and have a good time to some music you remember growing up too!!
Get your groove on.... The Vogue is clearly the place to be if you wanna shake your ass. They have one of the coolest dance floors/stages in the city and the people are all about having a good time. The girls are hot for the most part. though you have to deal with those gringo dudes that stand around the dance floor, beer in hand, staring at chicks dancing. If you avoid those tools, then you'll have a good time. So grab a Long Island, get up on a platform and show me what you've got!
