Editorial Review for Some Guys Pizza – by Julia Spalding

The Scene
Colorful paintings and a giant mural surround undersized booths and tables. Lack of space is not a deterrent: You'll have to fight lines on the weekends, but have a beer in the extra waiting room and relax. Servers are quick yet gracious, perfectly willing to divide a plate of pasta or warn diners against ordering the Blenheim ginger ale ("Unless you really like ginger").

The Food
Woodfire ovens turn out sturdy-crusted, saucy pies that teeter between gourmet and traditional. Most sauces are house-made, like the spicy-tomato Creole or cilantro-goat-cheese pesto. The Thai pizza boasts of peanut crunch and comes topped with fresh bean sprouts. "The bomb" is a veritable manhole cover piled high with pepperoni, sausage, fresh veggies and lots of cheese. In addition to pizza, pastas run the gamut (fettucini, ravioli, spaghetti), salads are substantial and hearty soups taste homemade.

We went in Saturday with a party of 8. We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes. We were not offered anything during our wait. The manager was fully aware of us and did nothing to accomodate us. Once we were seated, our server was out of sortz from the start. Food was good, once we finally got it. It took several attemps to get our salad orders correct. We waited about another 20 minutes while our bill was calculated and then was presented to us on POST- IT NOTES. We had four seperate checks which we informed the server of at the start. at least two of the parties were over charged. I will not go back.

Pros: food was average

Cons: to many to list

Dress in jeans and get ready to wait. The adventurous pies make this a popular place.   See the full editorial review.
