Editorial Review for Mezzaluna – by Julia Spalding
The Scene
Housed in a former service station, this eatery is where people go for outdoor dining. Several tables line the sunny front patio, great for summertime people watching on the village's main drag. But Mezzaluna is just as irresistible in winter, when a blazing fireplace heats the tiny dining room.
The Food
Mediterranean specialties dominate the concise menu. A walnut-flavored pasta is particularly delicious, especially when accompanied by sturdy Italian bread dunked in olive oil. A variety of excellent, filling salads like hearty tuna nicoise, chock-full of potatoes, green beans, boiled eggs and grilled fish, make perfect noontime treats. The Moroccan chicken salad will fulfill your garlic intake needs for the month, but those who have tried it once can't resist ordering it again.

I recently visited Mezzaluna with a group of seven people. All of my friends were from out of town and, since I had been there before and loved the experience, I recommended we go to Mezzaluna. Big mistake. Because we were in a group of seven, the waiter's gratuity was included in the tip. I'm not sure if that was the major contributing factor to our bad experience or not, but he proceded to ignore our table, including clearing plates and requesting refills, throughout the entire evening. It took nearly one hour to receive our food and we only received refills on our drinks after asking to speak to the manager. The manager did buy a round of drinks for the table, but that did little to make up for the poor service. My best advice would be, if you have a group of more than six, go someplace else.
Pros: good atmosphere

I love eating on the patio, although I find the interior of the restaurant somewhat boring. The food is excellent, although the menu is a bit limited for main dishes. Desserts are wonderful, as are the appetizers. Each dish is exquisitely prepared and appealing. Wonderful cappacino, too--we would go there just for this.
Pros: Atmosphere, Unique food
Cons: Parking limited
