In Short – Serving steaks on the south side for more than a decade, Bynum's has built a reputation as one of the finest family steakhouses in the city. Armed with talent in the kitchen and a creative, meaty menu, it's easy to see why Bynum's has no problem filling its well-appointed dining room seven days a week. The carefully selected menu features such delicacies as center-cut filets and ocean-fresh swordfish.

Won't go back...

My husband made reservations for us to visit Bynums on Valentines Day weekend. After driving 45 minutes, we arrived on time for our 7:15 reservation. When we ordered our prime rib we were told they were out...what? A prime rib steak house and your out at 7:15? I was told that we should've "reserved" our prime rib when we made reservations. I've never been told I had to "reserve" food when I make a reservation. Why didn't someone tell us when we called that we were supposed to "reserve" our prime rib?
So, my husband and I both ordered the steak and shrimp...medium. When it arrived I got a glorified hockey puck with four pieces of shrimp. The steak was about the quality of a Walmart steak. It was not good at all. This was a $27 meal.
We spoke to the manager who deducted the price of just my steak and our bottle of wine from the bill. He told us next time to make sure we "reserve" our prime rib.
To me this was like going to Kentucky Fried Chicken and they tell you they have no chicken. I won't need to "reserve" my prime because I won't be going back.
Best Steakhouse in Indy

I recently dined at Bynum's for the first time. A friend highly recommended the place....Oh my goodness, it was amazing. Our waiter knew exactly which bottle of wine would compliment both of our meals!! I, of course had to see what all the hype was about with the prime rib! I have loved prime rib since I was a child, and this was BY FAR, the BEST prime rib I have ever eaten. It is big enough for two people, or you can take it home for later! The cute little "swan" to go foil was a nice touch too. Overall, my experience was a 10!! I will be dining there on a regular basis!! Good job guys!
- Pros: Affordable, Great service
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! I know steaks and this place is the best in the tristate area. I'm guessing they age the beef in excess of maybe 40 days to get that kind of flavor and tenderness. Whatever it is - it's good. Would recommend it to anyone who knows beef and enjoys a healthy portion cooked to temperature. Service seems to be better in the last year or so too. So whatever your doing keep it up and I'll keep coming back. By the way, the singe your sinsus cocktail sauce is to die for and the shrimp are the biggest I've tasted that do not taste mushy. And I really like the new homemade cheesecake. Our waiter said they make it right there. Yummmm.
- Pros: EDUCATED STAFF
- Cons: not enough parking
Save a few $$, Eat the Best & Feel Better About It

Husband's birthday. Can't spend a fortune on dinner but he LOVES prime rib, shrimp cocktail, etc. Decided to buy a prime rib that is literally "platter sized" and thrill my hubby. More food than one human can devour in one sitting but always cooked perfectly, always delicious. Yes, they are very busy as the word continues to accelerate more growth, but, worth the wait I assure you. So, happy couple. I have some $$ left over for a nicer gift AND provide hubby with an outstanding evening with friends and nice big prime rib dinner. Thanks Bynum's!!
- Pros: Huge portions. Welcomes "sharing" meals for minimal cost. Home-like atmosphere.
- Cons: Sometimes too busy to handle amount of customers, so make reservations.
Really good steak, a few flaws

I'd like to start out by saying that I've been going to Bynum's since I was a little girl. My family always went there for special occasions, and last Sunday was no different. It was my 28th birthday. I love steak and their ribeye is great. I always take new friends there for dinner.
That changed last Sunday:
Our service was pretty good, until the end, when we received our check. Our server mentioned that other servers usually automatically add gratuity (which they never have before) but that she didn't, and if she had, the amount was off to the side in case we wanted to see what it would have been. In other words, she was telling us how much to tip her. Normally we tip around 20-23% if we have good service, and we did, I just found it extremely tacky to mention a tip after dinner.
The second problem was a mix up on our friends order. He had ordered a cabernet wine off the list, and it turned out they had two of the same brand of wine, both cabernet, but different years. One was 25.00 and one was 50.00 and she had brought him the 50.00 wine and he didn't realize it till we got the bill. (The wine sat on the table the entire time with a napkin on it, so it's not like we made note of the label) Our server said that was what he ordered, and that she could fix the problem, but it was what he ordered. When we saw the itemized list, it just said "brand name" and cab- $49.50. She said it was a new wine and she didn't know.
That mixup coupled with the tip comment leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
- Pros: Steak, Portions
- Cons: Atmosphere
