Design your own pie from the roster of 52 toppings at this casual, funky pizzeria..
The Scene
Back in the mid-'80s, Bazbeaux slashed its way through the fern bars to become the first place in Indy to scatter sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts on thin-crust pizza. The concept caught on, and plenty of diners tossed back a Bartles & James on that rickety porch next to the fire station in Broad Ripple, or ordered white zinfandel by the glass inside Massachusetts Avenue's funky dining room-cum-art gallery. The ambience is casual and conducive to ordering strange, imported beers just for the heck of it.
The Food
Though gourmet pizza is old news now, sausage-and-pepperoni converts still can't get enough of the garden pizza, the Neptune or the quattro formaggio (clumped with ricotta and sweet tomato sauce, like a lasagna pizza--with bacon).
Can be Romantic!. If you think romance is out of the question try sitting downstairs! The room is dimly lit by warm recessed lights that further accentuate the yellow hued walls. Most of the tables only seat two and it is a lot quieter downstairs than up. When you eat downstairs you are not exposed to all the frantic waitstaff bustling about or the noises from a lot of people squeezed into a small space.
Only one I go to.. I've had a lot of different pizzas and Bazbeaux is the only one I would consider calling an actual restaurant. It was actually fun and enjoyable to eat there! Other places are simply chains and don't have and can't reproduce that wonderful and unique atomosphere.
beaux-riffic. such a fun place to eat. Great pizzas salads and people watching.
this pizza could go to 11. I guess I can only give it a 10 though. In addition to the many wonderful pizza combinations, the sandwiches and salads are also delicious. The service is good and the servers are friendly. Working downtown would suck a lot more if not for Bazbeaux.
Meg's Rating. The pizza is okay, but not best in town. I prefer several other pizza places better.
mmmmm. The pizza is very yummy! Better is the summer when you can sit outside!
Tasty!. I went with a group of friends before a performance at the Murat, and we had fabulous service and food. We really enjoyed ourselves and that Quattro pizza!
Best By Far. If you have never tried this place and like the pie you owe it to yourself.
