Editorial Review for City Cafe – by Christy Buena
In Short
Cozy café offers breakfast made from scratch and offers reasonable prices. Inside, original artwork hangs on the walls and guests can choose to sit on booths or get food to go. Locals flock to the restaurant for fresh ingredients, farm fresh eggs and creatively prepared dishes that add a twist to breakfast favorites. Notable menu items include French toast, Eggs Benedict for $6.75 and grilled ham, to name a few.

Entering at just after 10am on 3/18 with my grand son, we sat at the table right in from for approx 8 minutes. Having settled my grandson and trying to keep him entertained, which was no great task, by the way there were only 2 occupied tables in the place, I took him back to were the so called waiter was and ask for directions to the bathroom. He pointed the way and I asked if he could get me coffee and chocolate milk, we would be right back. Returning from the R/R, waiting another 10 minutes, seating another table and helping them, he came over and asked if he could help us. I asked for coffee, water no ice and chocolate milk, and while he was there could he take our order. Sure he said. I order for my grand son bacon sandwich with mayo, (he hardly eats anything, but the kid was hungry waiting for the parade), I order scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Easy enough order you would think. Finally, he came back with 2 pieces of buttered toast, 3 strips of bacon and a pack of mayo and said to me this is for his sandwich. and then set mine down. I asked him if he could bring us our drinks, after puffing he brought me cold black coffee no cream or sugar, water full of ice and white milk. I sent buttered toast back it was for a sandwich, the waiter asks why, I can't use the buttered toast. Waiter left took toast, I tasted my very salty eggs and said that was it. I packed up my grandson explained to the waiter, " He can't eat sandwich if you don't get us bread, he can't drink milk no chocolate, I can't eat eggs, for fear of heart attack due to salt, coffee would have been nice, but you gave me no cream or sugar. This was the worst 45 min experience I have ever received at a restaurant no one I know will ever frequent this establishment, I even tell strangers I meet about the experience. Luckily I had an apple and granola bar in my purse for my grandson. The parade was great. Thank you to the group next to me for helping entertain my 4 year old grandson.
Pros: None
Cons: waiter and hostess and cooks

Saturdays are pretty busy at this place, but eat here once and you'll know why. I love this place so much, I even hesitate writing a review for fear that more will discover the beauty and fill up our Saturday spot! Many of their dishes are exceptional, but here are a few of my favorites.... ~ Cornflake encrusted french toast (once I ordered as an appetizer when there were 4 of us at breakfast, so good and I'd trade a Kr*spy Kr*me in for this ANYDAY!! ~ Their toast even is a unique multi-grain that you don't get many other places ~ Pay Attention to the specials on Saturdays, I had a banana pancake with a bunch of other tasty descriptive words in the title that was PHENOMENAL ~ OJ is fresh squeezed ~ Oh, their side taters are awesome and I dip EVERY bite in their house specialty cajun ketchup, kind of in the buffalo family of thick sauces and so great Service is always friendly too.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance
