In Short – From the house bread and herb-flavored oil through the house specialty, cioppino (also known as "poor fisherman's stew"), to the finale: chocolate dessert sausage, this Mass Ave. favorite in the heart of the theater district offers a tantalizing sample of Mediterranean and Italian delights in a warm Italian villa decor. Tender lamb with figs and pine nuts, sauteed pistachio-crusted salmon, farefalle with chicken and sausage, pizzas, pastas, hot soups and leafy salads can all be enjoyed al fresco throughout the year, thanks to a heated, covered patio.
Not a meal I want to revisit
by FOODJUNKIE1
The atmosphere and customer service was great! The food was average or below. In fact, I have had better from the Olive Garden and saved a few dollars. I had the Chicken Marsala and mushrooms (bland) and cheese risotto (undercooked and crunchy). The spinach, however, was amazing. I am neutral on the garlic mashed potatoes. The portions were nice but it was not a meal that I wanted to revisit. I ate very little and did not take the rest to go.
- Pros: sauteed spinach, customer service, atmosphere
- Cons: food
Not a place for healthy eating!
by 128georgina
My husband, our friend and I ate at Agio last night for the first and last time. Our waitress was adorable, but we knew we were in trouble when she told us "this was her 3rd week" working there. After all the mess ups, our friend could have sworn she said "3rd day"! If you are looking for healthy eating, there are only two options (as reflected by the menu itself!). Once you have ordered a salad (our waitress even got that wrong when I made a few changes), all other dishes are HEAVY on butter or cream, and sometimes both. After messing up my salad order and waiting ten minutes for the correct salad, the entrees arrived, but she apparently never put my order in (we did see her write it down). Attempting to get any assistance from management proved useless. My husband's meal was inedible, but by that time we were just too frustrated to try and make any changes. When the bill arrived we were surprised to see that no adjustments had been made. I asked our waitress "wouldn't it be nice, given what happened, if we could have an adjustment on the bill?" Happily, one was made, but I had to ask for it, even though management was aware of the problems we were having. I noticed the table next to ours was also having difficulties with the same waitress. As I looked around the room, other servers seemed quite professional, so I'm thinking we just had bad luck. However, it was quite a struggle to try and eat healthfully at this neighborhood Italian restaurant.
- Pros: can't think of any
