Editorial Review for Fountain Diner – by Julia Spalding
The Scene
The Fountain Diner first opened in 1959 and, after years of neglect, has been restored to its original state of glistening chrome and squeaky Naugahyde. Located in the middle of Fountain Square, a quirky arts and entertainment neighborhood, this real-deal '50s diner and soda fountain is housed inside Quality Antique and Collectibles, a cool store selling vintage '50s and '60s household items.
The Food
The chicken finger baskets and grilled cheese sandwiches are perfect with an orange whip chaser. Breakfast is served all day, when the cook slaps together hot cakes and buttermilk biscuits. Long-haul truckers are partial to the good morning combo--two eggs, hash browns, toast and a choice of bacon, sausage or ham. Whatever time of day, don't miss out on the fries.

I LOVE this place!!! It feels like you have stepped back in time, with the 50s music, decor, furnishings, and vibe. Serves typical diner type food, which is very good and very inexpensive. It's a great place to hang out and chill and they served the best chocolate malt I've ever had in my life.
Pros: great vibe, good food, inexpensive, friendly staff
Cons: parking, but that's city living for you

Good typical diner food in a neat, preserved retro atmosphere. Cool mint green plates and hand-dipped shakes. A fun experience.
Pros: Atmosphere, Cheap, Hot
