We Deliver When & Where Others Won't

Tips for Aunt Pollys Pizza

March 19, 2013

Summary: terrible business with outrageously rude employees and management who take forever and then don't deliver BUT STILL TAKE YOUR MONEY.

We ordered a pizza from this place very late in the night and asked for delivery to our hotel. We ordered the pizza around 1:45am and called a few times to check on our delivery as it was taking abnormally long (for pizza which takes 30-45 minutes at any other decent business). We talked to the business twice before 4am and they gave us different updates (pizza was out - waiting for a delivery guy). At 4:30am, when we still hadn't heard from them or received our pizza, we called the the front desk at the hotel who advised us that they were now closed and indicated someone had come and gone but somehow we were left still hungry as no phones rang (I provided my cell phone number which was right next to me all night on loud and had no received calls), and no one came to our door. The next day, I spoke to a gentlemen who said he was a general manager. He told me we would receive a credit in our account - since they already processed the unauthorized transaction - within 7 business days. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and 7 days came and went with no credit. Upon contacting the business about the missing credit, the "head manager" was nothing short of rude and told us that we weren't getting a credit because we "refused to answer the door or phone." We were STARVING, why would we refuse the pizza we ordered?? I spoke to this poor excuse for a "manager" (probably not even) on March 18, 2013 between 7 and 8pm several times. She wouldn't let me finish my sentences and was downright rude - to put it VERY lightly. Ultimately, we got charged $22 for a pizza we never got and they took the money anyway. We never signed the receipt or authorized the transaction; therefore, the money was stolen. We paid them for a product we never received. The "manager" that I spoke to last (3/18/2013) was aware that the we never got the pizza - I have no idea if they gave it away or brought it back to the store (I got two different stories from the hotel desk and the pizza place - also, not my problem). Regardless, when you screw up, you fix it; you don't take the money and run. Perhaps they wrote down the wrong room number but then why wouldn't they call my CELL PHONE which is the number I gave with the order?? Simply knowing that we didn't receive what we ordered, any decent business would fix the situation instead of point fingers...AT THEIR CUSTOMERS. Guess what pizza people - without your customers, you have no business, no job, no income - so I would re-think such a poor decision next time. And had we said we'd use cash when they got there (which is my second biggest regret about this - first being ordering from this place at all), would they have been so quick to leave (without calling the phone number provided) or would they have been so quick to be such arrogant individuals on the phone? No, because they wouldn't have taken advantage of the unauthorized funds. Far better pizza places out there who care about their customers and won't steal money for products promised but not received.

I'll Pass on Polly's Pizza. Well, I started as a fan when I first found the joint. It has decent pizza and delivers up until 2am but I've had too many negative experiences to overlook.

I've seriously never waited so long for a pizza to be delivered. Even on a Monday with no events and being 10 minutes from their location, it took 1h 20m to deliver. (Wasn't the best first impression for some friends to experience.)

Pizza arrived along with a had a higher total than told on the phone. Driver didn't know the prices and couldn't explain the difference. (I understand taxes and a delivery fee but a $7 difference than normal is quite steep.) On top of that, it wasn't even the correct order and pizza was quite lukewarm. Only positive that had remained the same since my first time were the breadsticks.

I had such high hopes that this could become my go-to for pizza downtown and for late delivery. Now not only are my newly introduced friends saying no more, so am I. I'll pass from here on out.

PS. I have been to the location in the Summer and it is ridiculously hot. Not the ideal setting for preparing food.

Keep Up The Great Food!!!!!. I am a previous resturaunt owner. I have been ordering from Aunt Polly's for some years now. I can't see well behind the counters nor did I see a board of health inspection but, I know that I have gotten some really good food from here. I kind of grade resturaunts by my standards and the "Big Breaded Tenderloin" is off the the hook. It's not a place to go seat and expect to have a candle lite dinner but for some good food delivered or to go from the hood it's great. In comparison to some other up scaled resturaunts they have done a great job with pizza, sandwiches and desserts.

Not in the summer!. Aunt Polly's is truly a great food delivery place, and probly the best in Indy in my honest opinion.

On the other hand however, I choose other sources for my food delivery needs in the hotter months of the year. The main reason for this is that Aunt Polly's isn't air conditioned. I have had a couple experiences when picking up an order in the hot months, that I could not believe. I know the temperature in that kitchen had to be at least 140-150 degrees. Then I see open, (probably refrigerated), but still open topping tables for the pizzas. I got to looking at the pizza table and noticed that the cheese was actually melting before it was put on the pizza. That tells me that the cheese was subjected to above safe temperatures, and could easily spoil in a very short period of time like that. What about the sausage? Or the beef? Sure, I love all those toppings hot when the pizza comes out of the oven, but I'd prefer that they be properly refrigerated BEFORE being put on the pizza. YUK!! When you really think about it, the employees are bending over the cheese with sweat pouring off their faces into it. Maybe that makes the cheese and other toppings more tasty? The more I thought about it, the more I realized what other unsanitary conditions could arise from such high temperatures in a food preparation facility. Why has the board of health not cited them for this? How can the employees even bare such inhumane working conditions? That alone tells me a lot about who ever owns this buisness. There is no way that they could possibly have any sincere regards, or compassion for the safety of their empolyees. Heat stroke, heat exaustion/cramps could easilly occur on an overworked employee in such temperatures. On each occaision I visited, (which has only been a couple times in summer), they were always busy. I could keep writing ,but I think we are getting the idea. DON'T ORDER IN THE SUMMER!

best pizza anywhere. Aunt Polly's Pizza is by far the best I have ever had. You can tell this restaurant is going to be around a long time. The way that the owners of this restaurant take pride in what they do. I have never been somewhere that actually cares about their customers the way they do. I have had nothing but the best service ever, the most friendlyest staff and the best pizza. If you are looking for something different try Aunt Pollys they deliver just about anywhere.

terribly delivery experience. Ordering a pizza from Aunt Polly's was one of the worst delivery experiences ever. It took an hour and a half from when I placed the order to when it arrived. When it arrived the pizza had clearly been sitting around for a while, the cheese already setting and the temperature cold. Perhaps some of the other dishes are better, but I don't recommend delivery, and I don't recommend the pizza.

best cheddar chesse poppers and their wings freaking rock....the delivery people rock as well.. aunt polly's is the absolute best on many levels. i crave their food...crave it..... have never been disappointed....ordered from them 3 times this week. the food is always A+. i never write reviews but this place is unlike no other. i accidently was persuaded to ordered one of their desserts the other night-the pumpkin cream pie. OMG. it is incredible.i had to fight from ordering it tonight. their wings are like no other in town. you just have to trust me on this one and try them for yourself. i never even liked wings before and i ordered them a couple of months ago for a friend that was here and jesus.......they rock.. I AM HOOKED! the delivery team at aunt polly's is the best there is. i always ordered from Papa Johns before and you need to recruit RYAN from Papa John's at 10th and shadeland. he is by far the best delivery guy there is but your food beats Papa's 10 fold. the only complaint with aunt polly's is the people that take the order. this is at least the 3rd time they got my debit card wrong. because the delivery ppl. know me they continue to deliver to me even thought the phone people have my debit card wrong. i have told them over and over my card # and here the A+ delevery team still come and have to call the phone person and they have my number wrong.Your food rocks-your delivery team rocks!! we just need to get your phone people to the top. they are the only one's that suck...you guys are awesome..the food is unbelivable...your phone team just sucks...food is 110%-delivery team 110%....phone people -110%. the phone people suck...aunt polly's is one if indy's best kept secrets! i tell everyone i know!!! thanks for such great food and a terrifice delivery team. i have never had a late order...get on the ball with the phone people....best, jeff horton
