Great Beers, average food.
Great beers brewed onsite and a good selection of 'visiting' beers.
I went during Lent this year because I was told that their fish and chips were excellent (and I forgot to make reservations at another restaurant). We were in a party of 4 and got seated right away. We all ordered the fish and chips and a sampler of their brews. The beer came out first and was excellent. The food came next. While not bad, there was nothing really remarkable about it. Kindof like any traditional pub's fish and chips.
I have nothing bad to say about Barley Island. It is a semi-regular haunt of mine now.

Worth the Drive.
Barley Island is about 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis.
Inside you are greeted by a fairly sparse seating area, but toward the back things get a little warmer, with booths and frosted glass all in an Irish theme. I especially liked the hanging lights that showed leprechauns holding mugs of ale. They also have an adjoining game room with pool and classic arcade games.
The beer selection is fairly good. They have 6 beers available, including a seasonal or 2, and a cask offering. The have a sampler and growlers available as well. The beers range from standard brewpub stuff to more unique offerings like a 60 Shilling Scottish Ale.
The service here was decent. The food was a combination of Irish pub grub, pizza and sandwhiches.
All in all this is definitely a recommended stop if you are in the Indianapolis area.
