Editorial Review for Passport Travel Spa – by Lori Lovely

The Scene
Crisp scents of citrus and forest punctuate high-tech, minimalist design at this cozy airport salon-spa. Pedicures and chair massages appeal to vacationers, too, but this spa's services create a particularly inviting break for business travelers striving to maintain a professional appearance. Hoosier hospitality from an attentive staff doesn't hinder the in-and-out quickness of a five-minute nail repair or a 15-minute men's haircut. The confines of the space, however, do ensure that conversations will be overheard, perhaps even joined.

The Services
Credit the signature 40-minute "easy connection" services (manicure, pedicure and massage) for keeping the wait brief, even during peak times--the spa menu's "fast track" version of each service takes half the time. In addition to seated chair massages, hand and foot massages are also offered. Facials cleanse and moisturize--no extractions are done--and makeup reapplication is available. Visitors from bigger cities will find Indy prices a bargain.

Insider Tips

Save Time

The spa doesn't take appointments, but you can phone ahead to get on the wait list. If you're not present when your name is called, they'll take the next person on the list. When you do arrive, however, you're still next up.

When to Go

On busy days, get there early and get 40-minute "easy connection" services while everyone else is still queued up for baggage check.

Look Good

Men can indulge in haircuts and special manicures and pedicures.

I certainly don't like to pass poor judgment on anybody; however, this pass through business is as much a spa as a typical strip mall nail salon. The staff is friendly, but it certainly isn't a place for rejuvenation or relaxation. A 15 minute chair massage and/or a quickie manicure doesn't constitute a spa.
