Editorial Review for The Villa Inn – by Lily Fu
In Short
Modeled after a Florentine villa, this hotel is decorated in colorful tiles, fountains, trefoil window details and stone trim. Couples and business travelers stay in one of six rooms that offer a private two-person Jacuzzi bathtub and shower, DVD players and library, complimentary snacks and beverages, and high-speed Internet access. The spa offers various body treatments and massages, while the restaurant features a Californian-Italian menu of pasta, meat and vegetarian dishes.

Some friends and I scheduled spa appointments for the same day. The owner found out that we knew each other and tried to hold us to their group policies, even though we never signed a group contract. When one friend had to cancel (3 days before the appointment, well within the 24 hour notice required for individual appointments) the owner threatened that she would charge my credit card if the girl didn't go ahead and pay in full for the pedicure she canceled, including a 20% group gratuity. My friend, who felt bullied, ended up telling the owner to go ahead and charge her card but to give me the scheduled pedicure as a gift. I had signed up for 3 appointments, which I confirmed with the spa's business manager 48 hours before the appointments. Twenty-four hours before my appointment, the owner called me to confirm, but when she listed my appointments, she added 2 treatments that one of my friends had signed up for. I told her that her information was not correct and that her business manager had given me different information the day before. She responded, "Liberty (the business manager) works for me" and made it clear that if I did not have the woman who was having the treatments call and tell her to put the treatments on a different credit card, they would be charged to me. I found it surprising that I was required to fix the spa's mistake. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of my friend (who was very confused by what had happened since she gave her own credit card information when scheduling and had never mentioned my name). When I arrived at the spa, the owner told me that my appointment had been at 2:30 instead of the 3:00 time I had scheduled. The technician took me back anyway and was very kind. I overheard another technician tell my technician "she doesn't want you do it, but do it anyway" (referring to the pedicure charged to my friend). To say the owner of the spa was rude, is to put it mildly. I left the spa more tense than when I entered.
Pros: Nice building, good technicians
Cons: RUDE owner, unethical business practices

Our stay at the Villa was amazing. The staff members made us feel at home. We enjoyed our wonderful spa treatments while enjoying wine & appetizers too. Higly recommended but they just need a better dessert menu for the restaurant.
Pros: Upscale service with great amenities.
Cons: Small desserts
