Editorial Review for Claddagh Irish Pub – by Lori Lovely
In Short
Stained glass, wood-paneled niches warmed by fireplaces, cozy booths and a rollicking central bar impart Celtic atmosphere, enhanced two days a week by live music. An extensive beer list could please any Irishman, and the authentic Irish menu, with a little Guinness in just about everything from the beef stew to the chocolate cake, should satisfy any Celtic appetite. To experience a real Irish meal instead of looking like an Irish-wannabe, skip the Americanized corned beef and cabbage. Order the shepherd's pie or bangers and mash for a truly authentic Celtic dinner.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkGuinness. 'Nuff said.
Know Before You GoIt's standing room only, elbow to elbow, from open to close on St. Patrick's Day. To ease the overflow, management provides live bands and tents across the street in the parking lot to take the chill off the wait.

We live in NC and we are still craving this place! We were in town for the Formula 1 race in June and went downtown every night. We found this place on our last night in town and we didn't want to leave. The food was so amazing and the beer was great! My husband is still talking about the Monte Cristo. We are going to have to make up a reason to come back just so we can eat here... (I think I can do that since I am a huge Tony Dungy fan! GO COLTS) Please please do yourself a favor and try this place! I guarantee you will not be unsatisfied!
Pros: Food, Beer, Ambiance, Decor
Cons: Parking (But I am not used to downtown)

I've never been to the downtown Claddagh... this refers to the north side one. I've been there 6 or 7 times, but not for about a year (we live in Richmond). Last night (a Sunday) we stopped in with our 9-month-old after a shopping marathon, and had a wonderful experience. Our daughter was easily accomodated, and really enjoyed looking at everything. The family restroom is a very nice touch. I don't know why this place wouldn't be good for kids. I saw several families there. Maybe on a Friday or Saturday it could be too raucous? Otherwise, I loved my fresh pint, my smoked salmon, and my BREAD PUDDING. And the music. And it's smoke-free!!
Pros: FRESH GUINNESS, wonderful wait staff, great food
Cons: a tad pricey
