Tips for Claddagh Irish Pub

Great Late Night Atmosphere. I was at the the Claddagh Downtown this weekend. Such a great atmosphere! They are really changing things for the good! Competitive drink prices and specials! Love that they have Fish and Chips til 2 am....you never know when one too many Irish Whiskies will make you hungry!

Avoid.... Went out to celebrate post exam with some classmates expecting a good evening. Our server, despite an empty establishment, was not in the least attentive, and had to return to the table several times to be reminded of the drinks we had ordered. I started a tab and bought two captain and cokes over the course of 2 hours...grand total 10 dollars plus the tip....no problem so far. I checked my online banking today to find a mysterious $25 dollar charge in addition to the 10 dollars which I was expecting...charged to my card earlier in the night. I was expected to produce a receipt to prove that I didn't purchase the alcohol...this proved to be a bit problematic. How can a person produce a receipt for a purchase that was never made? Plenty of good bars in Indy...this is not one of them.

On behalf of the Claddagh Irish Pub, I apologize for your experience. There is no excuse for the poor service and I hope you will give us another opportunity to show you this is not the norm in our pub.

Regarding the overcharge- it sounds like this is simply a preauthorizatrion charge (an amount the BANK holds). I bet if you check your account again, the amount was returned within a few business days. Again, this is not a situation the Claddagh is responsible for or can remedy.

Best in Indy!. We live in NC and we are still craving this place! We were in town for the Formula 1 race in June and went downtown every night. We found this place on our last night in town and we didn't want to leave. The food was so amazing and the beer was great! My husband is still talking about the Monte Cristo. We are going to have to make up a reason to come back just so we can eat here... (I think I can do that since I am a huge Tony Dungy fan! GO COLTS) Please please do yourself a favor and try this place! I guarantee you will not be unsatisfied!

Great food, atmosphere and service. I've never been to the downtown Claddagh... this refers to the north side one.

I've been there 6 or 7 times, but not for about a year (we live in Richmond). Last night (a Sunday) we stopped in with our 9-month-old after a shopping marathon, and had a wonderful experience. Our daughter was easily accomodated, and really enjoyed looking at everything. The family restroom is a very nice touch. I don't know why this place wouldn't be good for kids. I saw several families there. Maybe on a Friday or Saturday it could be too raucous? Otherwise, I loved my fresh pint, my smoked salmon, and my BREAD PUDDING. And the music. And it's smoke-free!!

I don't get the hype about this place. I enjoyed dinner with my husband because of the cozy atmosphere, not quite the food. It's a neat late-night hang out if you can get there early and reserve a booth and sit down. It's too happening for me to enjoy a chill, quiet night; everyone else I know loves this place, but I kinda stray away from it if I can. The drinks are expensive, the liquor drinks small. They card at the door, even for lunch! What kind of place won't let a minor in the door to eat during the day!

Outstanding. The atmosphere, food and staff were great! I can't think of a negative thing to say. (Which is really something...) The waitress, Jen, even gave me a mini-tour and history of the pub since they were not very busy and I was curious. The fish and chips was huge and a good value. The place was clean, homey and great for a date. After dining at one of the best steak houses in town the night before, Claddaugh's put them to shame. Would love to visit again!

A portal to Irish ambience, fueled by traditional dishes and plenty of Guinness.. In Short
Stained glass, wood-paneled niches warmed by fireplaces, cozy booths and a rollicking central bar impart Celtic atmosphere, enhanced two days a week by live music. An extensive beer list could please any Irishman, and the authentic Irish menu, with a little Guinness in just about everything from the beef stew to the chocolate cake, should satisfy any Celtic appetite. To experience a real Irish meal instead of looking like an Irish-wannabe, skip the Americanized corned beef and cabbage. Order the shepherd's pie or bangers and mash for a truly authentic Celtic dinner.

Great Place for an IRA meeting. With its central location in downtown, the somewhat shadowy yet warm pub is a fantastic beer and food joint, with secluded booths surrounded by dark wood and leaded glass, it's a fantastic place to have intimate discussions over a beer and great pub food.

Great Choice. I surprised my Guiness loving boyfriend by stopping here on our way through town. We both loved it, it offers quality Irish food and lots of it. FYI - One entree can feed 2 people. The waiter was very suggestive and happy. Will stop here again!

True Irish Atmosphere - No Scrums. Fantastic old world theme! Known for it's fish and chips and Guiness Beef Stew. This place has atmosphere and great food. Not bad for the begining of a chain.
