Editorial Review for Charbono's – by Lori Lovely
The Scene
Tuscan yellow textured walls punctuated by art glass envelope distinct dining areas separated by stained glass from the bar area and defined individually by booths encircling the perimeter and a grape vine covered pergola above the central seating space. Rustic archways, murals and an eye-catching fountain lend character and charm in a casual Italianesque setting that equitably accommodates romantic dates, families and groups, becoming livelier as the night wears on.
The Food
Unique flavorful combinations highlight favorite dishes, like the smothered chicken's applewood smoked bacon sautee, topped with feta and served on couscous, or the flat iron steak's bourbon glazed mushrooms, peppers and onions. The presentation of diverse menu items (heavily dominated by fresh seafood, but also including choice steaks, chops, chicken, wood fired pizza, salads, pasta and a bevy of rich desserts) is spectacular and tantalizing. Unusual wines and microbrews cap a meal of surprise delights.

Insider Tips
When to GoThe lunch menu is available only until 4pm, at which time, the larger portions of the dinner menu are served, as well as the fresh hot bread and spicy oil, which is well worth the wait.
Look GoodSkip the usual draft and import beers. The list of microbrew beers may sound unfamiliar, with names like Robert the Bruce beer, but it unveils several tasty dark ales and full bodied brews.

Selected Charbono's because of its rating and its being easy to get to from our motel in Plainfield. It is clean looking with subdued lighting, has a nice bar and seems well run. The wait staff wears uniforms with ties. The bar has a good selection of wines by the glass and the menu has several tempting entres such as Blackberry glazed baby back ribs. We were seated after a few minutes wait in the bar. We ordered Ceasar Salads and the Firenze pizza since it sounded good and we had recently been there (Florence, Italy). Our error. The pizza was dry and bland tasting. The Ceasar dressing was not the best we ever had. Our reccommendation is to try a different entre.
Pros: Good ambience and ease of parking
Cons: Our food selections

Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit bias because I know the head chef, am friends with one of the kitchen staff, and it is quite close to my home. But, when the place opened up, I had no idea what to expect. I think it is better than it's sister restaurant Boulder Creek (Brownsburg) and is as good as another of it's sister restaurants Stone Creek (Plainfield). It is a really nice place to go and the food is out of this world. Everything is wonderful, from the bread and dipping oil, to the appetisers, to the entrees, to the desserts (I would highly recomend the creme brule or the crepes, altough all the desserts are good). If you want a little bit higher class of dining, this is the place I would recomend. It's good, casual, and has a wonderful atmospere.
Pros: Has THE best pasta in Avon!
Cons: It can be slow at lunch time (this is more of a dinner type restaurant).
